Higher education for the year 2009 may mean the year for online college courses. The world today is becoming highly sophisticated when it comes to technology than one could ever imagine. More and more schools today are looking into different ways to enhance with existing provisions and go beyond conventional, experiential and learning hands-on. Online education can benefit both institutions and students. Not only will students gain broader access to various fields and courses, online universities draw new markets for students with the goal of every institution side by side with that of every student.

An online college/university can offer complete spectrum on online courses which includes, sciences, history, English, nursing, law enforcement and commerce among many others. Students may choose online instruction over traditional learning for various reasons and most of the time it has to do with flexibility in time and location. However, for students online instruction is not limited to getting education solely online as they can obtain classroom courses if they choose to. Conversely, the limits are always there and when you have to overcome the barrier you got to get out there. Certainly hands on requirements like the ones subject to laboratory constraints are difficult if not done in the lab itself. Apparently, higher education via online is most suitable to commerce related classes, associates and post graduate courses. While online learning is a terrific alternative, it is not a viable option for all college courses.

I believe online education can work its best if instruction is not limited via online only but distributed evenly with a classroom environment for a more workable option. The stir toward online learning needs to reassess the quality measures being meet. Online education can never replace traditional but it helps a lot if a student prefer to utilize both and make absolute use of the best of both worlds.
